I disabled the old price of special price on your site by add custom css code:
.product-block .product-item-details .price-box span.old-price {
display: none!important;
}
You can check on your site.
Also what you mean darken background where is showing on frontend?

Do you mean change the background image?
You can replace the file with the file at here: pub/media/ves/themesettings/background/default/background_1_1.jpg

Wow, I guess I confused myself
I completely forgot that I edited the overlay on to the actual image! Lol
I was looking for a setting and never actually looked at the image itself. Duh me!
